Booting up computer

lads i turned on the work computer today and i got a message saying something like windows/ systems32/config/system....
anyhow my computer wont boot up & was wondering does anyone on here know anything about it?:( I tried booting it with microsoft cd but no joy just got a blue screen saying it wont come on cos it trying to protect the computer.... Any info would be appreciated:o

wouldnt have a clue myself though...id usually knock it back off and then turn it on and pray to fcuk it works..

Hi Paul - Did you get this sorted? from the message you typed, the Operating System is missing necessary system files to boot. Your looking at a re-install of Windows. Have you ever done this before? Ive dont it 100 times, I'll sort you out for all the necessary info if you need assistance?

What make PC and are you in worried about backing up files that are on the PC? (pics/important doc's)

i think the computer is a phillips not sure anyway i tried booting it up with the microsoft cd & i just get a blue screen saying it wont come on as it is protecting the pc? uim afraid of losing important files so i have sent it to a computer doctor... Do you know what could be wrong with it?

Could be anything wrong with it. Blue screen isnt good news. You did the right thing sending it into a computer tech

Yes, the Operating system crashed. Tell them to take the hard drive out of the PC, put it into a USB external caddy and back up the data you need. The reinstall windows - once there are no clunking noises from the hard-drive you'll be grand.

Did the computer undertake any changes lately? Like the deletion of files you were unsure about, installing dodgey applications etc?
Operating Systems do crash from time to time for various reasons, but very rarely do files go missing.

No changes lately but when starting computer last few weeks the computer was cutting out when starting but then it would start after a couple of goes... could it be a virus lads?

Got word back from computer doc that he has to format the computer back to factory settings meaning every file and programme will be wiped.... only thing is he can save files that i tell him to save.... only thing is i cant remember what is saved in which file:confused:

not much of a techie if he had to format the drive:mad: thats a kop out and lazy way of doing things.
boot with the cd make sure its the first to drive to boot choose repair windows and type fixboot or if thats not the problem there are loads of other options to pick pass this on to the "techie" maybe he dosent know this.:rolleyes:

I tried all this myself & it would not work with cd or anything.... think he said it was hit with a virus
