Didn't see a thread about him so please merge if there is one.

Right, back to Kelly, I thought he did very well last night and was an impressive full debut as Lyon are no mugs. He looked calm and assured on the ball, relatively quick, strong and brave. Nice delivery into the box, with either foot.

Nice to see a player being thrown into the deep end and having an impact on the game as opposed to just trying to get through it without ****ing up. Fair play to him for his attitude.

Obviously Johnson will halt his progress but i'd be happy with Kelly as his cover. Kelly prefers CB but he will find it hard to get a look in there at the moment.

I now it's only one game but Degen who?

Very impressive full debut last night. Went in hard on challenges and wasnt afraid to get stuck in.

At the moment, he will be good cover for Johnson and maybe a bit part role but good to see him taking to the occasion

One of the few postives from last night!

He needs to get more minutes under his belt so hopefully he will be given them when the opportunities arise. A good run in the Carling Cup could do him the world of good.

I feel sorry for Stephen Darby with the way this fella played last night, I thought he was immense, Showed great heart which is what I love to see in our players , throwing himself about in tackles with great support play, I've known about Kelly now for ages and he was always touted to make the breakthrough before any of the other reserves.

Excellent debut and it's nice to have such a positive from last night. Let's hope he gets more chances and can push on. Fair play to lad. Great dummy for the goal too :D

Along with Pepe and Benayoun I thought he was one of our best players on the pitch last night. Put in a few good crosses, nice dummy for the goal ;)

Great performance by the lad last night. Competition for places in the starting 11 can only benefit the team.

The kid played his heart out.

The set piece which resulted in 1-1, who was on the goal line? - It was Kelly, when everyone else stood still.

    Hes one in the making.

He had a great game - only thing is he prob won't get much gametime unless johnson's injured or a cup game here and there. Hopefully this won't hold him back

Yep, he has to build on this with a start in the Carling Cup. He was in the box for our goal to help break the ball for Yossi too so he isn't shy joining attacks.

Concerning Darby, he never really stood out for me. Yes he's steady and tidy but didn't seem to have anything about him that made me think he'd make it with us.

I hope Kelly doesn't go out on loan as sometimes it's the kiss of death.

The Chap had a great game..He a big guy so his presence in the air is well needed in our team..

He from liverpool so he will understand the passion and history behind the club which is well needed at these time..

His defending last night was very good..Wasnt afraid to put his body on the life, thus leading to him getting injured after him and the post fell out..

His crossing is decent too..Two decent crosses from which we did well from..

He's not afraid to get forward too as we seen for the first goal..

The only negative and its not even that as with more games it will improve, is his first touch..As i said i can see that improving as he's only 19 and it was his debut..

But over all great performance from the kid and i hope to see him in the future..

Played well he seems to be v strong! Can tell he is a central defender as he kept drifting in and got caught out once or twice but wouldnt worry about that it can be worked on!
