Obviously bottom of our list of priorities at the moment but still a win, with some of the lesser used squad members playing, would be very welcome. I think we'll see something like:

Reina
Arbeloa Carra Hobbs Riise
Babel Lucas Momo Leto
Kuyt Crouch

I'll gues a 3-1 win to the reds with God getting a consolation for the visitors

id play vornin and crouch to give Kuyt a rest. Id even play Riise Centre half, rest Carra and bring Leto to left full to Let Yossi have a rare start

Hope to see Kewell, Hobbs, Lucas given a game. Babel up front maybe with Couch and a rest for either Carra or Sami. I wonder what odds you'd get in the bookies for correctly predicting Rafas first 11!!

He needs to rest Carra me thinks, he needs a break but if we leave an understrengt defense we leave ourselves open to a harsh lesson from Fowler....might even be a good game?? Hope not

The Carling cup should be used to give the fringe players experience/match time and rest the regular 1st teamers. With the injuries we have it would be a kick in the teeth for the likes of Carra,Stevie G etc to get crocked in one of these games. If we get knocked out its fine by me. How far do we really want to go in this comp? 5th round - Dec 5th, 2 semi's in jan, final - feb 24th. I really dont want to see us still in it after xmas even if we're out of CL.

apparently leto is having a mare..hes enduring some harsh criticism on rawk and the beeb. Think people need to go easy, must be hard for him in a new country. new language and a new style of football.

El Zhar just scored 1-0 to the Reds!!

Seen that about Leto, fair harsh on the poor fella the Beeb are anyway - people are texting in from Anfield what a utter joke some of our fans are really now!!

Check if for yourselves lads...

From what I saw in the second half Aurelio, El Zhar, Benayoun, looked lively; Lucas, Leto, Arbeloa were dissapointing, Hobbs was 'ok'; Crouch and Babel didnt look threatening. Cant read too much into this game. We played poor against a poor side in a poor comp. Nice to see harry get his bi-annual appearance:D

Babel seemed afraid to shoot when in the positions. We were dodgy down our flanks with ElZhar and Leto tracking back

Im only coming around after that dam 6:30 am flight back from Liverpool this morning. We had a hostel booked for some kip but did we go to the hostel.....no, did we go into concert square and drink the bejaysus of ourselves.....yes. Then straight to the airport for check in at 4am!! Jesus Liverpool should give lads like us a medal for the pain we put ourselves through. Anyway I have loads of thoughts on the game.

Firstly in all my years going to Anfield it was the first time I ever sat in in one of the central prominent sections of the KOP. Block 106. I have been up in the corner a few times and it was grand but I really enjoyed the atmosphere in this part. Cardiff fans helped but the atmosphere from our fans for a carling cup game was good. Would sell the wife for a season ticket in here. Robbie got a fantastic reception.

On the game...

I thought Lucas was brilliant in the first half and Ok in the 2nd. By brilliant I mean, him doing the nice and simple things and doing them well, something that sometimes Momo and Masch dont do. Anyway Hes a good lad. Leto was dissppointing again, I feel for the lad, he wasnt just as bad as he was v Marsaille but nothing really happened for him and it was not just a coincidence that as soon as Yossi Bennayoun replaced him, he created the 2nd goal. El Zahar done ok and scored a great goal and would deserve a another first team crack at some stage. Jack Hobbs done well too and we will see more of him. I thought was Babel (great shout form 54keeps yesterday to play him upfront) Ok upfront and his speed is unbelievable. Crouch ok too. All in all OK+, Stevie G had a good game and we did create a lot of chances. I said to my mates last night, that if we had played the exact same team V Birmingham we would gave beaten them and have 2 extra points on the board.

Carling cup or not and not a fantastic performance by any means but I really really enjoyed the game last night. It brought a bad run of games (Brimingahm and Marsaille) for me personally to an end and even after all these years I had a new KOP experience. If anyone would like to offer any excuses on how I would manage to persuade the Missus to allow me go to the Besiktas game next week , answers on a postcard :D :D

It sounds like a good ole all nighter in Liverpool Kopite, good on ya!
Lots of banter round concert square, it bein' halloween and all, had a great night too, in fancy dress (kind of) as GOD himself!

On the game itself, thought your synopsis more or less summed it up. I thought Babel had a shocker though, he tried to do too much instead of the simple ball/shot. I can see now why Rafa prefers to use him as a winger. Defence solid, Hobbs looked more assured at CB than when I've seen him in the middle. Aurelio had some lovely touches, great to see him back in shape. Arbeloa had an ok game, his crossing was very poor though.
In the middle Lucas was quality until he tired late second half, him and Stevie looked a safe combo. El Zhar seems to have bulked up and had his best game yet, well impressed me with his energy. Leto ineffective again the chap doesn't look to be adapting to the physicality of English football he doesn't half shirk a challenge! Stevie looks like he's found form again, Crouchy did what was asked of him without ever looking too dangerous. For me Yossi changed it when he came on, ignited our performance second half. Great to see Harry back showed some deft touches, fingers crossed he stays fit now.

As for GOD he was quiet by his standards, great to see him back home though one last time, what a legend
