Think this is the correct place to post this.Im on boards.ie and notice a worrying trend on their Liverpool forum.Fans on there defending GandH,defending posting sun articles and in general being prickly about criticism they receive for such behaviour.
No wonder decent Irish fans are getting a bad rap:mad:

    few examples

I'm getting tired of this attitude in this thread, if you refuse to toe the line with the majority your love for the club is questioned.

If you defend G&H you're not a fan.

If you criticise Rafa for spending £20m on a player who is out for 3 months, you are not a fan.

If you dare to question the quality of a player's performance you're not a fan.

If you happen to come across an article in The S*n, not only are you not a fan, but you are also given a condescending lecture about not knowing anything about Hillsborough.
The Yank bashing is definitely getting ridiculous and a bit embarrassing.

don't think people are really defending them.

there's just no point in blaming them for every little thing that happens.

this all started with me posting the story about City tracking Yossi, and saying they can f*** right off. this is because Yossi is an important player, and Hicks and Gillette may well want to accept an excessive bid if it were ever to come in.

but they haven't done a thing wrong in terms of this. they haven't sold anyone behind Rafa's back, and we've no reason to believe they would.

the only basis we have is that they're businessmen, and we believe they would take any money they can get.

i want them gone as much as anyone, but to blame them for things they haven't done, and to go on yet another rant about them based on this, is a bit farcical, and dilutes the argument a bit imo.

I'm on boards.ie, but don't think I have ever posted in that main Liverpool thread but have read bits and pieces now and again and I pretty quickly came to the conclusion that there where a lot of armchair supporters and that muppet you might see in the pub abusing the players posting on that thread.

It does show though that an awful lot of "supporters" don't have a clue or care whats going on at the club they "follow"

If you know anything Liverpool football club you should know the score in regards to Hillsborough. If not you need to be told.

If your a 'fan' of a club like Liverpool and are above the age of 18 for arguments sake, you should know about Hillsborough, maybe not the S*n, but definitely Hillsborough,. These 'Fans' dint deserve to support the club,. Because more than likely they do know and don't care, or they are not really fans, or just didn't want to know about it when someone was telling them,. When I was a little boy, my Dad was a massive Manc fan went to loads of games etc,. He used to tell me stories about great clubs, and the stories I remember most are the Liverpool ones, and about the S*n and Hillsborough and Heysel and Shankly etc,. And I knew then I would support Liverpool because of the togetherness of the team and the city, even through the worst of times, and that the whole thing was like a big family, it was something I was and still am deeply interested in. So if I as a child got educated by a Manc, and could comprehend everything,. Then I dont see why these 'Fans' cant or wont.

As was said, don't go near that forum, it's full of tossers who have only ever seen Liverpool on the TV (I'm sure some here havn't been over, but have a good knowledge of the club) and have no idea about the unique nature of the club, foot.ie is even worse. Just don't bother yourselves with them, it will only annoy you.

I have been on there myself once or twice and its just full of lads causing arguments from behind their screens. The only good thing about it was i found out about this site off there. Im all for free speech but when you dont know the roots of your own club you cant call yourself a fan.

Don't like Boards.ie at all to be honest. The moderators are too militant and PC, and a lot of the posters are clueless. It's a waste of time, head wrecking and I gave up on it recently. Foot.ie is very much an Irish football site for the League of Ireland and the National Team, foreign football including the premiership is not really up for discussion. A lot of posters there are anti-premiership (they refer to it as the "premiershit", ironic when you consider the state of Irish domestic football) so if you don't follow the domestic game you've no business there really. I follow Limerick but I've even given up posting on the Limerick forum as it's a constant trading of insults between junior and senior soccer in the city, with both sides as bad as each other.

I don't do the away games at all really as they involve taking a half or full day off work on a Friday and I can't afford to do that. I usually go to the home games, although I've missed out on a lot this season as we had a baby girl in May and I haven't managed to get to a game since! Gary Sheahan is doing well for ye I gather, Limerick should never have left him go. About time ye bought some footballers though, Jesus yer first few seasons ye were dire to watch, not to mention the pink shirts! Ye got some abuse in Limerick that season :p

Gary sheehan is a legend....Well that might be a over statement..But he reminds me of Dirk..He never stops running...Been to most of the home games this season and a few away games and that god we've only wore the pink shirts about twice..Some of our better players have left to go back to play GAA.Gavin Doyle left mid season,Johnny Flynn O Conor too..

Was asking you did you travel,Because off all the times that have come up,Limerick bring one of the best fanbases with them. They are only behind Shels and Bohs with the amount of fans they brought down here this season.

Any way Limerick are our bogey team.Apart from 2 weeks ago when we beat you's for a change..Good supporters are your fans..

As for the boards.ie football..Was looking at it last night..Alot of lads dont have a clue what they are going on about..

Also had a look at their ticket section for liverpool.lads just come out of no where and ask for tickets..In my opinion thats not on..Also noticed a few mentions of IK on there and about our rules of tickets...People saying you will be "lynched for requesting tickets"...

Read the rules then off the site is what i say.Any way rant over about boards.ie..

It's full of clueless, never-been-to-a-match-in-my-life, "soccer fan" whoppers.

Don't like the mods either. I have a two week ban due to end tomorrow and I fully expect to be gone again shortly.

A good few members have signed up here via boards.ie so it has been constructive from that point of view.

Agree about the mods on the site in general, there seems to be different mods for different sections but by God some of them are sad, power mad self righteous cnuts.

I have had a few bans myself on it - which where all quite harsh imo, so try not to post too much.

Gary only left because Mike Kerley gave him the cold shoulder and didn't even offer him a contract. Genius way to treat a local lad and your best player to boot  The fallout from it resulted in Kerley and Limerick parting ways a few weeks later. We're hoping Gary will come back home next season, unless one of the bigger boys snap him up.

I'd know most of the away crew including the flag boys. All lunatics and gas men to be honest, have to say they're fair dedicated too. I used to be the secretary of the supporters club until this season but gave it up for the time being. I remember when we had a handful of away fans at away games and always travelled by car. Now it's bus loads so we must have done something right!

Never been to Ferrycarrig, I'm sure I'll make it there at some stage though

Never banned but got an infraction recently for making a joke. Yep, a joke. I'd say something if it was racist, sexist or insulting but it was none of those. The reason I was given was for "being a smart arse". I reported the mod but then I actually just laughed at it it was so pathetic and left it, and haven't been back since. Place is full of little hitlers
