    Just to keep a eye on how there getting on ..... { hate international breaks}

    Torres

    Armenia v Spain (10 Oct )
    Bosnia-Herzegovina v Spain (14 Oct)

Spain have already qualified after winning all eight of their matches to date

Torres was withdraw from training with minor tightening of his groin .. precautionary

    Kuyt

There are no Group 9 fixtures remaining

He missed training with a minor ankle injury, precautionary .. seems ready to play.
Have my worries will he be to tired after playing halfway around the globe but think they only have a friendly on Saturday v Australia
    Which brings me to ......

    Masch
    Argentina v Peru { 10Th }
    Uruguay v Argentina { 14Th }

Two very important game v against Peru and Uruguay and then Sunderland 3 days later ... another one im worried if he will be to tired to play 3 days later v Sunderland.

    Agger

    Denmark v Sweden (10 Oct, )
    Denmark v Hungary (14 Oct)

Whether Agger plays, though, remains to be seen, as he was ordered to sit out training on Wednesday in Copenhagen by Denmark’s medical staff as a precaution.

Dirk Injured playing in shiitty meaningless friendly

Rafael Benitez will be furious after Dirk Kuyt came off injured at half-time in yesterday's friendly for Holland against Australia.

Liverpool were already less than happy that Kuyt and Ryan Babel had to play the match in Sydney in what was a commercially-driven deal done by the Holland FA.

Kuyt had missed training all week with an ankle injury yet despite that, Holland coach Bert van Marwijk started the game with the striker, who will now return to training having exacerbated his injury.

Worse, the 24-hour return flight is likely to increase the swelling on the ankle.

Holland claimed that the friendly was an important team-bonding exercise but Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder picked up a flu virus on the flight out there.

why doesnt rafa and the medical staff, take a collective decison to pull players out of internationals,if there is only the slightest hint of not being 100%.(sometimes even if they are 100%)
    i cant understand it,being honest.

Steven Gerrard boosts Liverpool with injury all-clear

Steven Gerrard gave Liverpool a massive boost last night as fears he might miss the club’s season-defining week of destiny were alleviated.

The Anfield skipper caused consternation at Anfield when he limped out of England defeat in Ukraine at half-time after a groin pull.

Gerrard was expected to be ruled out of Wednesday’s final World Cup qualifier against Belarus, with doubts over his fitness for the Merseysiders’ looming massive week featuring games with Sunderland, Lyons and Manchester United.

With Fernando Torres substituted just 55 minutes into of Spain’s win over Armenia with a foot problem after he had picked up a minor groin injury in training last week, and the South American trio of Javier Mascherano, Emiliano Insua and Lucas Leiva not returning to Liverpool until Friday evening, the potential loss of Gerrard would have been a devastating blow.

But an initial scan yesterday morning at England’s Hertfordshire base after Fabio Capello’s men returned from their 1-0 defeat in Ukraine found no serious damage to the groin and just a mild pull.

Gerrard told Fabio Capello’s assistant Stuart Pearce when he came off the pitch at half-time that he was not fit enough to go on, having just picked himself up from a heavy challenge after being sold short by a poor pass from Michael Carrick.

That was not the cause of the complaint, with Gerrard feeling the tightening as he attempted to play a cross-field ball earlier in the first half.

Gerrard, who had expected to be going back to Liverpool, has instead stayed with Capello’s squad and could yet play at Wembley, although he will not be risked in a dead game if the injury is not completely healed.

For Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, though, it will come as a huge relief that the injury should not prevent Gerrard featuring in the trio of games that the Merseysiders have to win after their poor start to the season.

The Reds are under massive pressure after their shock loss in Fiorentina and three defeats in eight Premier League games already.

Having to do it without Gerrard would magnify scale of the task and so the positive injury bulletin has been a significant boost for the Anfield outfit.

    from official website:

Spain insist they will take no risks with the fitness of Fernando Torres after he picked up a knock in their World Cup qualifier against Armenia.
The striker has been undergoing physio at the team hotel on a muscle injury which forced his second-half substitution on Saturday.

Vincent Del Bosque's men face Bosnia on Wednesday and Torres hasn't been ruled out despite Spain having already qualified from Group 5.

The national coach has had friendly and positive talks with Rafa Benitez over the last 48 hours - and Liverpool's medical team are in constant contact with their Spanish counterparts.

Spain's doctor Oscar Celada said: "We will be very cautious with Fernando Torres. We have until Wednesday to assess his condition. We believe that physiotherapy treatment that we've started yesterday will help."

Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard has been deemed fit enough to remain with England ahead of their clash with Belarus after he was substituted against Ukraine with a suspected groin injury.

Why would any player carrying a knock not be sent home when the game is a pointless game as they have already qualified ... perfect time for international managers to get brownie points with Rafa.

    Torres .... Spain qualified
    Gerrard .. England qualified
Kuyt .... does Holland have a midweek friendly anyway already qualified ?
Agger ... only back from injury and Denmark also qualified

Marca have just reported that Torres will go to Bosnia with Spain but that he's still not recovered and might play.

DISGUSTING! Has no one at our club got any f***ing backbone? Fergie can get Shrek home after suffering some "injury" but I bet he plays a full 90-minutes on Saturday, yet we cant get Stevie home? We cant get Torres home? Are Man Utd paying someone at the FA and the Spanish FA to keep them there in the hope they're injuries get worse? Our club should say we're taking them home and that is that or at least tell them straight, if they play and their injuries get worse we'll sue you! Didnt Newcaslte do it a few years back? Why should we keep paying our players obscene wages when they are out injured by injuries they pick up at meaningless internationals? And after the World Cup Stevie must be asked to pick between his Liverpool captaincy and England, he'll be 29 after next summer's finals, time for him to call it a day!

I think Holland have no mid-week friendly so both Babel and kuyt should back at Liverpool already or very soon .

Furious Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez on war path over injured international stars

Frustrated Rafa Benitez is on collision course with four national teams, amid injury fears over his Liverpool stars.

The Anfield boss received mixed news yesterday about the condition of key players Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres, Dirk Kuyt and Daniel Agger, who all had fitness concerns in international games at the weekend.

Gerrard, Torres and Kuyt were all substituted early in their matches after suffering injury problems, and Benitez is angry because all three players were diagnosed with the condition earlier in the week.

Torres had been forced to sit out training with Spain, but then was pitched in from the start in their World Cup qualifier against Armenia, only to be taken off after just 58 minutes with a groin injury.

The same happened to Kuyt, who travelled all the way to Australia with his country Holland, to again sit out most training days with an ankle problem, only to be pitched into the friendly and then hobble out of the game.

Gerrard too, has been struggling with a groin problem for a while, and he was taken off at half time during England's defeat in the Ukraine, amid fears that the injury could rule him out for two weeks.

Agger played a full 90 minutes for Denmark on Saturday, but he has yet to make a senior appearance for Liverpool this season after suffering back problems, and Benitez believes he will not be fit enough to play another game so soon with his country facing Hungary on Wednesday.

It left the Reds boss busily contacting the four national teams yesterday for an update, but Benitez feels that with Spain, England and Denmark now all qualified for the World Cup finals they can easily afford to release players with injury worries hanging over them.

England have already sent Wayne Rooney home, but plan to keep Gerrard with them for the match against Belarus, even though the midfielder is unlikely to play. That has angered the Merseyside club, because it smacks of preferential treatment to Manchester United.

Spain too, want to keep Torres even though he won't start in the midweek game against Bosnia and despite the fact that coach Vicente Del Bosque has already allowed Carles Puyol, Carlos Marchena, Xavi, Dani Guiza and Cesc Fabregas - temporarily - to all to leave his squad.

The Spain national team boss spoke to his Liverpool counterpart last night, and offered reassurance that Torres will not be put into any risky situation, when he said:

"I told Benitez that we will treat Torres as if he was at Liverpool. If the boy is well and wants to play, he will play against Bosnia. And if he has any problem, he will not play. It's that simple."

But Benitez has angrily questioned why such important players to his team can't be sent home, given the injury concerns and the fact that the games are meaningless now for both England and Spain.

Benitez also wants Denmark to also release Agger for some important conditioning work this week, rather than be risked in a match that means nothing.

The Liverpool manager will also speak to Holland coach Bert van Marjwick about his decision to play Kuyt from the start of the friendly in Australia, even though the forward had been struggling so badly with an ankle problem.

The Dutchman is now a major doubt for the Reds' visit to Sunderland at the weekend, with the player due back on Merseyside tonight for scans on the problem.

Steven Gerrard was unable to finish training with England, walking off with the physiotherapist.
Steven Gerrard was unable to finish the training session with England today, walking off with the physiotherapist while the rest of the squad carried on. The midfielder is now likely to miss tomorrow's World Cup qualifier against Belarus tomorrow night and could also be forced to sit out Liverpool's game at Sunderland at the weekend.

The Football Association has yet to comment on why Gerrard had to end training prematurely but Liverpool will fear that it is a recurrance of the groin problem which saw him have a scan after the defeat in Ukraine. Liverpool play Sunderland on Saturday, Lyon in the Champions League three days later and then Manchester United the following weekend in a crucial period for Rafael Benítez's side.

The Liverpool manager is also concerned over the fitness of Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuyt as they too have suffered injury scares on international duty. To add to Benítez's worries, Javier Mascherano, Emiliano Insúa and Lucas Leiva are due to return from internationals in South America only on Friday, less than 24 hours before the game at Sunderland.

Torres was substituted 10 minutes into the second half of Spain's 2-1 win in Armenia on Saturday after apparently suffering an injury to his right foot. Spanish officials say the move was precautionary and that he will not play against Bosnia-Herzegovina tomorrow if he is not "100% fit". Kuyt, meanwhile, did not reappear for the second half of Holland's friendly in Australia after an ankle injury had prevented him from training properly
