Just this morrning I changed my broadband and phone to NTL,I don't know what the story is now with the phone line that goes into the sky plus box.Does anybody know..? I may just leave it out as I don't order anything using it,I know my old man was getting letters from Sky saying he needed to leave it in.Is this the case..?
I did the same last year, my main phone connection through the broadband is upstairs now so I don't bother having any connection to the sky box. Havent got any letters at all from them about it If there's a fight on box office I want I just ring up and there's an automated system that completes it handy enough
Thanks Shay,I did the same I now have the main phone upstairs beside the computer and left the Sky setup in the living room.I think I will do the same and just leave the phone connection off. How do you find the NTL broadband...?
As far as I know Sky insist on you having a phone line connected for a few reasons: - They can send updates to your sky boxes this way - They can ensure the box/card you have is being used at that address by verifying the phone connection - You can’t use their interactive (shopping/gambling/competitions) etc without a phone line connected Sky insist you have a phone line when installing their service, however a friend of mine got sky a few years ago and as he was living on his own refused to get a landline just for Sky so instead they just charged him the full installion fee of €120 but his system has been working no bother without the phone line for 4+ years. He just recently upgrade to Sky plus aswell.
Yeah grand, I have it a couple of years now. I only use it for browsing and Itunes etc but I've recently started to use it with utorrent and the download speed is very good and no hassle at all. I changed the phone over earlier this year and the first month or so had a coupld of small issues where the phone was engaged if someone was ringing when it wasnt being used but they fixed it fairly sharp and it's been fine now
We got a phone line in as Sky refused to install it without one. The minute he did we canceled the phoneline (2 years ago now) never had a problem with it.. Got ESPN and Setanta no bother and have multiroom....
I have the phone, broadband and tv from ntl The broadband is great I have to say, 3 of us work of the wireless and 2 of us download quite a bit, never have an issue once its up and running
we had awlful trouble with sky regarding the phone line connection, basically when we hooked up our phone line to the sky box our broadband wouldnt work and sky kept sending out letters saying that they were charging us a higher monthly fee as a result of this, we explained to sky what the story was in that our broadband wasnt working etc... in the end it became a toss up between BT and sky and BT won because we had a great package with them so now we have NTL digitel and all is shite
I have recently updated to digital hd and sky sports+espn The above 3 (and that was the basic tv channels) before this worked out at 76 euros per month, not too bad, if you go digital its only another 4/4.50 a month on top of the 76 (I would go with the digital) oh and don't use the phone for calling mobiles, you can get a block on it but you have to pay
i dont know what that is but we used the same connection for well over a year so it wasnt as if we changed anything and then one day it wouldnt work, tried a couple of different wires/connections and it wasnt happening
