4 year-old Harry Blackmore died after falling while swinging on a steel rail in a Liverpool supermarket. The boy fell & bumped his head on the floor, but lost his fight for life after a ten day vigil at his bedside. Among his visitors was Stevie G, who presented the youngster with a new football. His parents plan to sue the supermarket for negligence. RIP
The news article said his mother was a couple of yards away shopping when it happened. According to their solicitor they plan to.
Terrible news. Brings back memories of when child died in Dunnes in Blanch Centre when fell down the side of escalters about 4 years ago Horrible for family
well losing a kid is a very painful devastating occurance and nobody should have to go through it and i dont think the family should be thinking about money as in the greater schemes of things its really not important, my heart gos out to them maybe its there way of grieving i dont know, but we have all been kids and swung out of trees and poles etc etc etc. I dont know its just sad the first thing they decide to do is sue not try and prevent a similiar accident happening again
Things like that are just beyond words. Really nothing at all that you can say. And God only knows how the kid's family are feeling.
Is the original post a newspaper quote or a summary? If it's a quote it's typical of the gutter press to play to Liverpudlian stereo-typing by saying in the same paragraph that they are planning to sue, journo b*stards.
Have to agree, terrible news for the family but sueing the shopping centre will get ya nowhere. Kids will be kids, we all swung from trees, railings and trolleys in supermarkets. Freak accident.
Tragic accident and awful for the family but I cannot see how they have grounds to sue. It's not the supermarkets fault that the child swung off of a stationary object. To be honest young kids should not be allowed to roam free in shops. And if memory serves me correctly, many UK stores including Argos launched an initiative last year that any child below a certain height must be controlled by their parents/guardian when in store, for both safety and insurance purposes (not sure if this was law or just an initiative). The Argos in Limerick even had the cardboard cut-outs on the floor displaying this. As an owner of a store myself I completely agree with it, a store cannot be held responsible for kids who are allowed to climb, run and do what they like with little supervision or correction. Awful tragedy though, RIP.
