Liverpool have named a 28-man squad for the Champions League group stage. The Reds will kick off their European campaign at home to Debreceni VSC on September 16 before travelling to Italy to face Fiorentina. A double header with Lyon will then follow ahead of a trip to Debreceni VSC. The group fixtures are concluded at home to Fiorentina on December 9. Goalkeepers Diego Cavalieri, Pepe Reina, David Martin. Defenders Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Fabio Aurelio, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Emiliano Insua, Jamie Carragher, Stephen Darby, Martin Kelly, Martin Skrtel, Andrea Dossena. Midfielders Alberto Aquilani, Steven Gerrard, Yossi Benayoun, Javier Mascherano, Lucas Leiva, Jay Spearing, Damien Plessis. Forwards Fernando Torres, Andriy Voronin, Albert Riera, Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel, David Ngog, David Amoo, Nathan Eccleston. What will we do without Deggen?
id say David Amoo is over the moon at his inclusion, ecclestone too. fair play to them. I know theyre for the english contingent put hats off for the inclusion.
Nearly sure its because ecclestone is english that he is in ahead of pacheco,i think pacheco and ayala will be able to register as home grown players net season if they are still there.
No Pacheco and no Ayala? Strange but Rafa knows what he's doing. Anyway players under the age of 21 don't have to be registered.
Is it a bit of a waste having Plessis in there ? If Rafa rated him at all he would surely have been on the bench for one of the first few games Spearing at least is home-grown so would be in there anyway, but don't see the point of naming Plessis for the sake of it if he has no intention of using him..........
You have to be registered to play no matter what age,the difference is you can name 25 senior players and 10 under 21 that are home grown.if your 25 mane squad already has too many non-english players then you cant register any for the b squad as back up.
Conditions for registration: List B 17.13 Each club is entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season. 17.14 A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1986 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA. Thats basically what I meant, I just phrased it wrongly. Which Pacheco and Ayala would qualify for as well as many others.
They dont have to be English, they just have to be club trained meaning being part of the club for 3 seasons. So he can be Mexican or Japanese and still have the same standing as an English player.
injured at the moment. When Rafa was talking bout injuries last week, he mentioned El Zhar was on the comeback trail.
What ive read .. Both can be put on the B-list and the B-list can be changed before every game. would love to see Pacheco get a game if we have things wrapped up .
