Lance Armstrong invites cyclists on Phoenix Park bike ride

Lance Armstrong, the seven-time Tour de France cycling champion, invited cyclists in Dublin to join him for a bike ride in the Phoenix Park today.

“Good morning Dublin, who wants to ride this afternoon? I do,†Armstrong wrote on his Twitter stream earlier today.

The cycle will start at 5.30pm today at the roundabout off Fountain Rd and Chesterfield Ave.

Very harsh. No Proof. Given also the fact that he has raised over 300 million for cancer.
Man is an absolute legend for what he achieved and what he is doing with his life.
He has the lungs of a horse and trained solid all year while other riders were relaxing during off season.
    Love this man.

Looks good from the picks on the internet. The man is a legend alright. Winning the Tour de France even once is some achievement never mind 7 times.

What he has done for cancer isn't in question. He has raised huge money but that has nothing to do with whether he has cheated in the sport of cycling or not. They are two separate issues. He was a cyclist before he got cancer.

Fact is they tested some of his B-samples from a few years previous (frozen specimens) with tests they had subsequently which wouldn't have been available at the time and the samples failed spectacularly. No, it isn't proof but only because its not admissable. There were also tests done at the time which he failed at the time but these were overruled by saying that the drugs he took for cancer were the reason.

David Walsh, a writer who is highly respected in the sport and who has absolutely nothing to gain by picking on Armstrong has come out publicly and stated he is a cheat leaving himself open to legal action he feels so strongly about what Armstrong has done. Our own Paul Kimmage who also has no axe to grind and has huge respect has said the same and what did Armstrong do? Sue him? No, in a press conference he made it out that what Kimmage was doing was an attack on victims of cancer. Many well respected people in the sport who have nothing to gain have said the same. You chose to believe he is clean, I do not. Depends on what proof you need.

You don't KNOW he is clean any more than I KNOW he is not clean but we believe different things.

    there are always begrudgers.
Makes a good story trying to discredit him. Why anybody would wish to view somebody like him in a bad light is beyond me.

listen paul kimmage is an arse hole ok fact and i should know ok

he's always a rat , he said stephen roche was on epo in the tour in 87 and he was racing with him , he's a little begrugging bollix

armstrong had a test on saddle cream comeback positive but that was for saddle sore's

dont be spouting trying to bring the man down , has he ever been found guilty of been stripped of his credentials ??? no

ever hear or innocent till proven guilty ???

trust me im in the cycle trade a long time to know what the bike shoop owners think of paul kimmage and his brother who had a shop beside sheaf o wheats in coolock

kimmage = tosser plus he come sout with allegations when he's releasing his books

why would armstrong sue him ??? he's not guilty

kimmage is like what the rag is to liverpool , he is to cycling thats how much people around cycling hate him

its just a cycling forum , with peoples opinions , no proof

like michael jackson , was never proved guilty despite what others think

to cheat with drugs , goes against everything he trying to achieve with livestrong

people are so fickle and negative

maybe when he was cycling hard he remembered when he was at deaths door and chemo was way harder ??? maybe that gave him a mentle push

he has come out and said he's been tested 32 times this year alone , most tested athlete and never been proved he used drugs

    Very sad.
Begrudgers would love nothing more than to bring him down, just to say "I told you so".
Personally, he is a hero of mine and to me one of the very few living legends of our time.
I am not going to try and change anybody's opinion of him but I have never admired anyone as much. I know what he went through, but I can never comprehend what he went on to do and is still doing to this day.
His autobiography "It's not about the bike" is one of the best books I have read and would recommend it to anybody.

    well said +1

remember folks who ever takes the drugs are mugs

my old man is in the cycling circle 40 years and knows who's who and he even thinks armstrong is out of this world , but no way thinks he's on drugs
