Does anyone know the best way to play region 1 dvds? I read up on it and you can hack a Dvd player but is there any other way?

    Has anyone got one? Expensive?

If you use them on your laptop I know you can change regions, but only so many times( Elvis will let you know) Not sure about hacking a dvd player, but multi regions are cheap enough anyway

If you're using a laptop i think using media player classic will work without changing regions.
I know it doesn't really answer your question but it might help sometime in the future.

usually, the dirt cheap DVD players don't lock out other regions because they are dirt cheaply made!

another way you could do it is if you burn a DVD-R copy of any region dvd, you can copy it so that it becomes a region-free DVD.

Yeah if you watch on your PC, VLC has always works with any region for me no need to change the DVD drives config.

I also have a region-free DVD Player I bought cheap on ebay 2/3 years ago ...It was actually a region 2 player when i got it and just got a code online that opened a secret manufacturer menu and changed it from region 2 to 0 :D

VLC will do the trick,. however as Lally said, you can change the region on your pc/laptop, but you only get 5 changes. so choose carefully.. But i'd highly recommend VLC player, heres a download link

    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

To hack a dvd player, you will need to take it apart, if this is the route you wish to go, post back, and I will walk you through it,.

PS: sorry I didn't respond sooner I only seen the thread now.

Powercity had a multi-region DVD player for 59 notes recently .....
works fine, nothing flash but may also be an option if it's still available

(think it was a black diamond ?)

a lot of dvd's players can be hacked by entering a code on the remote try google it to see if you can find the code. Some can be hacked by burning a file onto a cd and just playing it.
