Lets continue where we left off.

Villa are on a downer after the Wigan result, and we're on a high.

Another 3 points is a must at home.
    2-0
    :)

id say it could be trickier than we expect o neill will play for a draw i reckon 2 1 myself we need to score early and if we do we will push on is the o neill bubble about to burst

Can see us getting three goals on monday, well hoping anyway. Think Rafa will play the same team except for Ayala maybe. Think the way the team wwas set up was spot on as Johnson and Insua give us so much needed width and act like wing backs rather than full backs.
Torres to score two and Lucas the third.
Would gratefully take a one nil win though :D

I can also see us getting 3 goals. I think Villa are little shocked and will be tired after last nights exploits. Like to see Torres and Johnson link up again. Also maybe a debut for Kyrgiakos. Lets hope Benitez has got what we need - another solid defender

This is not forgone conclussion of a game but think we have upper hand and 3 points will be perfect confidence boost with some 'easier' games coming up

Football is a fickle old game, and moods change amazingly. We SHOULD win, but I don't know.

Played two Monday night games last year – Everton and West Ham – and only picked up two points.

Nightime games bring a better atmosphere, and more expectancy.

I see no reason to change the team unless Skrtl is fit.

Play Macherano a wee bit deeper continuing his role of bringing it out of defence. I say as Lucas' confidence grows, he will become a lot more involved in attacking play.

Villa are at a low ebb at the moment, but reactions and all that.

Our centre halfs will need to be a bit more decisive and dominant.

O'Neill will instruct Shorey and Young to push on Johnson as much as possible, this will be the acid test and he will need Dirk to be on top of his game defensively as well.

With Heskey likely to start up top we can expect plenty of high ball, if Skrtl is in the line up I hope they do employ that tactic,, but Ayala did well from set pieces against Stoke.

We are definately strong enough to beat Villa and if we play like Wednesday we will. Think we should start with the same team as all did fine during the week. Think Villa will sit back and attempt to hit us on the brek with the pace of Young and Agbonlohor so Mach will need a big game to break up these attacks and its important that Carra and Ayala/Skrtel dont get caught out.

Think we will be stronger in the end..

    Liverpool 2-1 Villa

can't find this match on any tv listings. is it on telly at all?

Jaysus that'll be 2 matches out of 3 with no live coverage this season. Last year it was possible to see nearly every match on one channel or another.:(

Was at last two Villa home matches 07/08 finished 2-2 and who can forget last season 08/09 finished 5-0. Can see it finishing 3-1. Hopefully thats the way it will finish. First game of the season for me so can't wait.

Ronan, here's hoping that Reina gets another wonderful assist like the kickout for the Riera goal.

We should win this game, Villa are on a poor run at the moment.

Well we should win all our home games, but that never going to happen someone will always put 11 behind the ball and make it hard.

Don't want to start with drawing games this early in the season thats what killed us last season. And the thought of losing is unthinkable.

An early goal and I think we could hit a few past them. Think this will be a tight game and won by the odd goal so I will go for a 1-0. Goal by Gerrard.

I reckon we'll win 2-0 with Yossi and Nando scoring.Villa look in disarray at the moment + I can see them finishing 7th or 8th this season MON has made no signings + their squad is skin and bones!

It's my firsy game this season so hopefully we have a good tempo about our game and get an early goal and even go in at half time with a 2 goal advantage that would be ideal because then villa would have to come out and attack

Villa aren't the type to park the bus imo.. if anything they'll leave themselves exposed, hence I can see nothing but a home win.
