I reckon 13 miles would be pushing my limit. Haven't done long distance running in a few years. Are the application forms available yet?

Fair play to you! One day I hope to get to run a marathon. Its on my list of "things to do" but have never gotten around to it.

Is it your first marathon? Is the training really tough? Are you with a club or on your own?

    Apps here: http://dublinmarathon.ie/race_series_halfmara.php
Its my first one and yes it is tough.
Sometimes find it quite boring, running with a friend for the races but training alone.

Training is ok at the minute most runs are about 10miles, but i have to gradually get these up to 20miles by the start of october.

Worst thing i find is getting out to do the run, when im out is ok, but its the though of "right i get home, then i have to run for 1h30mins etc" that gets me down at times

It was always a "thing to do " on my list and this year being the 30th year of it i said ill do it.

It is some buzz running and having people cheering and encouraging you along the way.

I am sure its very tough to get motivated. Its sometimes hard to get yourself back out in the evenings for 30mins let alone 1h30mins!

Are you running for a charity? If you are maybe there are also others running for that charity and maybe ye could meet up for a few training sessions - might make it that bit easier.

Best of luck with your training anyway and the event itself.:)

I feel your pain buddy i really do, Im training for it myself up to ten miles time wise 1hour 55 mins however im not realy worried bout the pace as i have set myself a time of 5 hours to complete it and then maybe next year i will push for a good time, gonna try up the distance to twelve miles at some stage next week, my training plan is two long runs (ten miles) and three short ( 6-7 miles) each week

left knee is badly cramped or has a muscle pulled around it.
have it strapped up with a heat pack on, but im not looking forward to the big ones

    times so far are:

    5 mile in july - 40mins
    10 mile - aug - 1h.25m
    13.1mile (half) - 1h57m39s

im thinking the marathon will take 4.30 or 5hours. I actually cant imagine having to do another 13miles on top of the half :(
