http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-1205424/MARTIN-SAMUEL-Another-season-goal-Rafa.html?ITO=1490 Everytime I have to listen to this guy he's forever having a pop.
This boyo is so far up his own hole, its unreal. Not with this article because a lot of outsiders are thinking the same. I have similar concerns, however Rafa wa hardly going to keep an unhappy player. There is not much Rafa could have done. The only like for like replacements are at big clubs already. I have seen Samuel on Sky and he must be a Chelsea fan and Frank Lampards secret mistress.
Watching This is Anfield last night and they had predictions from about 7 different journalists from various newspapers and the majority of them tipped us to win the league this year.
Theres a lot of journos having a go at us at he minute. Ollie Kay from the times and Henry Winter from the telegraph were on sunday supplement on sky the other day and both reckoned we more or less have no chance of winning the league this year. I was a bit surprised as both of them have been generous in their praise to us in the past. There was some other chelsea loving knob on it from one of the rags who showed his excellent knowledge by saying we've just sold our best left back in Arbeloa!
Suprised by both Ollie and Henry, usually they are the generous commenters about LFC. -- Rob Beasley I would imagine - predicted Chelsea had a 43 million deal in place to sign Pato and loan him back to Milan for season.
I would be a bit worried about the depth of the squad myself. That and a lack of firepower if Gerrard or Torres were injured for any length of time. I would really like one more back up striker, particularly as we bought one last summer that we sold and still haven't replaced.
Dion Fanning in the Sunday Indo is your only man. He seems to hate Ferguson and is always bigging up Rafa. James Lawton is one of the more balanced jouros, if slightly pompous.
Fanning in his season tips for the league last Sunday did not tip Liverpool either to win the league. Interestingly he tipped Fulham to be relegated because of playing in Europe this year.
fat samuel with another narrow minded article, writing for the daily mail now what else would you expect..
I dont like Martin Samuel as he can be a bit of a knobhead but theres nothing he says in that article that is wrong. We need to make a good start to the season and waiting on the fitness of most of our defenders isnt exactly filling me with confidence. We were very poor against Espanyol and Atletico Madrid, not bossing either game or creating chances.Spurs are a shower of cockney arseholes but flash Harry will have them wound up for us on Sunday.Lets hope we start the season on the front foot.
I had to stop reading after this cos it was here i realised why i cant stand this so Called Journalist "If it is the week before the season starts, it must be Liverpool putting a stick of dynamite under their title aspirations again. This time last season it was the failure to secure Gareth Barry, with the resulting fall-out between Rafael Benitez and the board, that dogged the club for much of the season." How the hell can he blame not signing BArry as our downfall last season?????? If anything it was a blessing we didnt sign him because Xabi had possibly the best season of his career raising his fee from ameasly €12 Mil to the €30 mil we got and also Barry showed this summer what he really is a money hungry mediocre Midfielder................. I wish the majority of Journos would stop look at the permier league with Scum/Chav/Arsenal tinted glasses no matter what Rafa does he will never be seen as the great Manager that he is by the english Journos because he doesnt bow to there whim and play there game its as simple as that
+1 This is also the point that Lawro makes in his preview of the season http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/8194114.stm Phil McNulty though, on the same site, thinks LFC will win it http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2009/08/chelsea_and_manchester_united.html
Lawro is a prat who makes up stories as "exclusives" just to keep his name in the news..................... wouldnt worry bout anything he says
Patrick Barclay in the Times isn't too optimistic of our chances http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/liverpool/article6794462.ece
Keeping Gerrard and Torres fit is going to be the key factor in us winning the prem or not this year imo.If the pair of them stay fit for the season they could easily hit 40-45 goals between them.Johnson should be a good attacking force as should Agger if he can stay fit.If Dirk gives us another season like last, happy days. What we need is the likes of Lucas and Babel to step up to the plate.I'm not too worried over what some hack thinks of our chances.
I too am worried about the lose of Alonso (If Lucas and eventually aquaman can fill teh gap)- but as has been said many times- if we keep the Captain and Nando fit we should have enough for no.19
