England captain John Terry wants supporters to stop barracking Frank Lampard. The Chelsea midfielder has come under fire from fans recently, including Saturday's 3-0 win over Estonia after emerging off the bench. Lampard is likely to play some part in Wednesday's crucial Euro 2008 qualifier with Russia and Terry says the squad want fans to get behind the team. "After the game the players were speaking about it," Terry said on Sky Sports News. "There's been a section of the fans that have been singling Frank out for a year. We don't like it. It left a bad taste in the dressing room after a very good win. "We don't wish it to continue in the future and I'd urge all those fans to stop it and those fans around them not to jump in. "Frank's been an awesome player for England over the years. He's not only played well, he's scored some great and very important goals. That's the message I'd like to get out." Poor Lamps ..........
In fairness though, regardless of players/ teams, i dont think its noced to ever see the national team booed....
I never thought I would see these word in a post of mine but I agree with Terry. Lampard has been an ever-present for England and does not deserve the harsh treatment he is getting from a section of the support. Also, with a clear-out looming at Chelsea I wouldnt think twice about signing him up. His goals from midfield would be of great value to us. Could think of a few players on our team (1 in particular) that I would let go tomorrow morning if we could get Lampard.
I think it's been proven with England that he and Gerrard can't play alongside each other, unless he's one of the ones you want to get rid of ???
