Friday July 31st Notts County Vs Liverpool XI Meadow Lane Result: Notts County 2-2 Liverpool XI With me being in Derby at the moment, as soon as I noticed a Liverpool team were coming to Nottingham, I got on the phone straight away and got myself a ticket! £10 for a ticket to a pre season friendly involving Liverpool sure you cant go wrong! So where do I start... Well I take my seat at about 7pm for the 7:45pm kick off. I am in the row just before the Directors Box so a nice height view of the pitch right along the half way line. 7:45pm hits and as the teams come out onto the pitch there is a wave of flash photograph just behind me so I look around and who is sitting in the seat directly behind me only Sven Goran Eriksson!! I turn around and shake his hand and got his autograph on paper and on the matchday programme! Onto the match, Liverpool started with a team of youth players, Darby was the captain for the night playing at the back alongside new defender from PSG, Chris Mavinga and Irwin. Nemeth and Pacheco played up top, Pacheco got alot of the ball and gave Liverpool the lead inside the first 10 mins. Notts County equalised just before half time and took the lead just after half time then with about 15 mins to go Liverpool equalised from Andras Simon to make it 2-2. The keeper made a blunder, he really should have stopped it. Overall it was a good game, Pacheco got alot of the ball, came looking for it, passed it about well, took his goal well. Looks promising. Nemeth got subbed just before half time with a knock. Darby got forward from right back at every opportunity, he had a steady game. Chris Mavinga looked shakey during the game, just booted alot of balls forward when at times he had time on the ball to maybe build the play up. He had a scuffle with Lee Hughes after Hughes's late challenge on the keeper midway through the 1st half. Hughes was up for it big time, went in strong all night & got into 2 scuffles during the match, he even had a few heated words with the Liverpool XI manager John McMahon on the touchline! Overall a good night, 4 goals and I got Sven's autograph and Daniel Pacheco's autograph!!
Brings back memories! Got his autograph when he was Lazio manager in Landsdowne road. Their was a 4 team tournament with St. Pats, Lazio, Liverpool & Leeds Only recognised him from watching the show about Serie A on channel 4....if only had of kept the thing, little did i know what he would go on to do
