Barnsley boss Simon Davey is awaiting a response from Liverpool after making an offer for winger Adam Hammill.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a productive three-month loan spell at Oakwell last season and the Tykes are now keen to secure his services on a permanent deal.

Barnsley have now tabled a bid for Hammill and Davey is hoping that their bid meets the Anfield outfit's valuation.

He told Barnsley Player: "We have been in conversation with Liverpool again this morning. I am yet to find out the outcome of that but we have made a bid for Adam today.

"We have put a bid in for a permanent deal. Hopefully that will be a successful one and we can get Adam into the football club as soon as possible.

"There have been positive noises coming from Anfield and I do not think that we are that far apart in our valuations so hopefully we can come to an agreement."

if he does its a shame, would of liked to off seen him a get a few games during pre season with the first team ahead of el zhar

Was it hammill's uncle was was on this is anfield after the lads from irish kop few weeks back? Think it was, he was saying he's probably going to have to move on as he's only training with the reserves after a few good loan spells. Remember hearing this lad had a bright future so wish him well. Very tough for youth to break through at anfield...

It does seem to be hard for all youths to actually get through to the firstteam, you stand a decent chance if you actually bought by rafa but if you going throught the acadamy. It must be off putting for young players no wonder why so many go to other clubs even if liverpool are there boyhood club

    Thats the one.

From the, admittedly little, i've seen of him I think he's decent and capable of carving out an (unspectacular) top flight career.

I certainly think he has more potential than El Zhar who I really don't see anything in.

Can't see Rafa playing him much, if at all, this season. So we might as well cash in now and let the lad settle in at Barnsley with a permanent move. He's 21 now so he needs to be playing games really.

    Wish him the best.

In fairness, it's not like there's alot of boyhood Liverpool fans playing in the EPL for any other teams.
There's a misconception that LFC seem to be letting all these great players slip through the net. If anyone can name some players of real quality that are from Liverpool that we've missed out on then I'll hold my hands up.
Rooney was probably the only one and there was no way he was going to sign for us, considering when he did have a trial he wore his blueshite jersey. Who else Kevin Nolan, Joey barton, they're not good enough to wear the jersey.
As for Hammill, anytime I've seen him he looked quite good and he's a player I liked and wish him all the best if the deal goes through, but I'm sure Rafa and the staff know what they are doing. It's very seldom we've let a player go, for them to come back to haunt us.

Fair comment there Monty, but I do like Adam Hammill and as you say anytime I've seen him play he's impressed me, I'd just like him to get a chance with the first team squad and see how he does, but maybe that won't happen now

    From Barnsleyone.com
Simon Davey's desire to bring Adam Hammill permanently to Oakwell since the last day of the season has moved a step closer with Liverpool accepting an offer for his signature.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey admitted that there was another club in for his services, but is confident he can persuade the Liverpool that his future lies at Barnsley.

"Adam was loved by our supporters last season and the coaching staff really enjoyed working with him. I am confident we can convince him to come here.

Leeds are the other club in for him. Between the 2 of them I hope he makes the right decision and the best of luck to the lad.

Wish him all the best & will look out for him in the future.

Should put in a buy back clause just in case imo.

If you our in a clubs youth team and are still there at 21 years of age. If at this point your not kicking the door down to get into the first team its not going to happen.

Would love to see our youth system get more player into the first team.

If Hammill goes I wish him luck.

If players are not going to make it we should just let them go.

    Lfc confirm winger sale

Winger Adam Hammill today completed his move from Liverpool to Championship side Barnsley.
The 21-year-old spent the second half of 2008-09 at Oakwell and has now made the move permanent.

Hammill is a product of the Academy who has been cutting his teeth on loan in Scotland and the Football League for the past three years.

The Scouser was part of our 2006 FA Youth Cup winning side, scoring a sensational goal from the half-way line in the early rounds.

Fcuking gutted he's gone I am gutted :(
