Was at the dogs in Mullingar on Thursday for only the second time ever and was wondering what do other people think about them? Good / Bad experience

Thought it was a good laugh for the night and will definitely be going again.

My parents and the granny used to go the Mulingar one fairly regular, til she bit the bullet.

I'm in the Harolds Cross track fairly often. Its good craic but yer always going to come home a lot poorer. The nags give you a chance, but ye get screwed on the dogs imo.

Here, Huggie, I know you said yer not that in Mullingar that often, but if you know a few people round there then drop me a PM. Most my family's from that town!

Been to Newbridge and Enniscorthy a couple of times. Its a good night out and can be a good staff night out too..

It helps when you know what your backing too.I lost a fortune on them, but as mentioned above the nags give you more of a chance of winning and at least their races are that slight big longer..

    Bad.....very bad:p

Dogs are on every weekend here in Galway, great night out. Nice when you go for the meal and get the table service but it can be expensive. Hence I dont go that often only for special occasions

I tend to do pretty well everytime I go to the dogs. I heard Shelbourne is good. The course in Waterford is very good, great facilities.

I`ve alot more luck on the dogs than the nags.
Picking one out of six seems easier.
Theres to many variables on the horses.

Heading to Harold's Cross tonight. Bound to lose all 11 races as usual.

Anyone got any tips by any chance?

    Love them 2 funnies:

    1) Went on night and put 2 euro on and kept riding winnings, left with roughly E200. as won most of races.. pure luck. next time I lost twice the amount thinking I had a knank

    2) Went with a couple another night and the fella kept going mad because she kept winning.. Especially as he thought himself some sort of expert. Turned out she was betting on every dog. Cost her a bit but the look on his face every time she won was classic! :D

Ah that's a complete load of bollix. My own fault I guess, but I never knew the story with betting with the tote. The missus backed a dog at 6/1 and he won, but by the time the race started he was evens. So we only got paid evens. Fcuk that. I could have got proper odds at the track. And she was all happy and shit about her win, so I paid her outta my own pocket. Rip-off pricks. But my bad for not getting the concept beforehand I guess.

Other than that, a complete nightmare. I got one "Winner" that turned out to be dead-heat. Lost an arm and a leg. Way worse than ever before. Load of cack. I'd take my chances at the nags any day.

Nah, I went with it Darren mate. But no joy this time. Finished 4th I think.

What really annoyed me was that the favourite won 7 out of 11 races. And this gobshite backed the favourite 3 times. Guess what, the fav lost every time i backed it. One of them was a big wager too. Just my luck.
