Finnish hotshot Lauri Dalla Valle is one of the most exciting prospects at Liverpool.

The striker certainly knows where the net is, firing 20 goals in 28 appearances for the U18s after arriving from boyhood side JIPPO in 2008.

Within a year he was prompted to Melwood where he now fights for a place in John McMahon's reserves.

A host of European clubs were interested in Dalla Valle prior to his arrival on Merseyside. Chelsea were rumoured to be circling, while the teenager actually spent three months at Inter Milan before deciding to return to JIPPO.

International recognition has also been forthcoming, with Dalla Valle scoring goals at U16, U17 and U19 level.

However, the youngster could yet choose to represent the Azzurri because of his Italian father.

He is contracted to Liverpool until June 2011.

I've seen him play a few reserve games and he looks fairly good, might get a call up next season maybe, Discuss

It's obvious that nemeth and pacheco are ahead of him in the pecking order as they are currently training with the 1st team and on our pre season tours but dalla valle is only 17 so it might be a bit too soon to consider him for the 1st team, maybe next summer he'll be on the pre seaon tours but I think it will be a while before we see him playing next to torres, gerrard and carra in the starting 11.

Yeah, in a weird way his own team-mates are his worst enemy. Pacheco and Nemeth are well ahead of him. And pacheco is the same age as the kid.

Edit: Not that I'm writing him off or anything, in case it sounded like that!

He has a great eye for goal but I'm not sure if he's got the kind of pace required for the premiership.

Remember the outcry when he was sold as part of the Konchesky deal. Probably would have been better playing him at left back! But did nothing for Fulham apart from miss the easiest chance of his career in the Europa lge a few weeks ago.
I know hes only young but its Another example of a youth team player being let go and the decision being vindicated as they haven't gone on to make an impression elsewhere.
