Was asked this the other day and its taken me a while to decide. The question was the best possible Liverpool team but no two players can be from the same country... So for example if you've got stevie in there you can't have another english player in your team. I found it pretty tough to choose so I went for a 4-3-3. Mine would be: ..........................Grobbelaar(Zim).......................... Finnan(Ire)...Hyppia(Fin)...Henchoz(Swt)...Riise(Nor)... .......Gerrard(Eng)...Mascherano(Arg)...Molby(Den)..... .............Rush(Wal)...Torres(Spa)...Dalglish(Sct)......... Subs: Kuyt(Hol) Hamann(Ger) Aurelio(Bra) Benayoun(Isr) Berger(Czh) Dudek(Pol) Sissoko(Mal) The thing is that there are so many great players left out, I left the likes of Whelan, Aldridge and Heighway out for Finnan just because of the formation I chose for example. I'm sure I've left out some more great players but this has been wrecking my head for days...
I'd agree with most of this, just some changes in defence: Nicol (Sco) Hyypia (Fin) Lawrenson (Ire) Riise (Nor)
I found the defence the hardest area to put together. Thought about Nicol but then would have had to leave Dalglish out...
Grobelaar (SA) Babbel (GER) Hyppia (FIN) Lawerson (IRE) Riise (NOR) Gerrard (ENG) Alonso(SPA) Molby (DEN) Barnes (JAM) The King (SCO) Rush (WAL)
Witout wanting to sound smart its a bit pointless and wrong For example several palyers who would get into any best ever 11 were scottish So how can a "best ever" line up not be allowed name these !
I think its best ever with a "twist", not exactly the best ever, but with stipulations. I enjoy these type of selections myself.Ill go for a 3-5-2 mid nineties formation with Kenny in the Macca role. Grobbelaar Lawrenson Hyppia Skrtel Gerrard Molby Mascherano Berger Dalglish Torres Rush
