    Ok, before I start, I don't want to see us deviate from our current system, but neverthess it's an interesting option (and we know Rafa loves his options!):

    From Official Site.

    So could we try something like this on occassions?

    ===================Reina===================

    =======Carra=======Skrtel=======Agger======

    ==Johnson===Alonso==Masch===Aurelio/Insua==

    ==========Kuyt============Gerrard==========

    ===================Torres==================

    Interesting theory, but I don't like the idea of Gerrard playing pretty much on the right.... he just fits in so perfectly in the hole where he played last season

    I like it, If this was to be deployed by Rafa next season i would say it will be against the lesser clubs that just park the bus, As for Stevies Role i agree with Irishred however i think it is just like that on Paper IMO he would have a free role.............

    Close to the end of last season, Rafa adapted this formation against Pompey, I think....

    I liked it, and it got the most out of our wingbacks, regardless of how the game went.

    I think its an option we could use, but it may only be used in instances of alot of injuries and/or suspensions.

    I dont think it would exploit all our players talents as 4-3-2-1 does.

    I can't see it happening. I feel if Rafa thought he could play Danny there, he'd already have taken the opportunity to test it. It's almost certain Aurelio is a starter (or perhaps not now given the recent injury), with Insua also pushing for the place, and it's obvious Rafa likes Emiliano (I think he played 13 games last season?).

    So it's between Carra, Skrtel and Agger for the two centre back places. It's a shame we can't fit Agger in, I feel he always gives us something different as well. He deserves to be playing week in week out. Great though to have this kind of complaint for these positions though!!

    Dont shoot me down for this...................

    I see Dagger and Skittles as our main Centre Back Pairing this year, Carra will come in for the games against the likes of the scum and the bluenoses and also for those dark december evenings down in hull and the like, there will be alot more changing around the three of them than last season.

    yeh i can see your thinking aswel.

    i still feel though carra and skrtel will be mainly used this season.

    i do feel though we will see danny and skrtel play alongside each other a good few times as they are the future and carra is gettin older.

    some may disagree but carra looked really tired coming into the closing stages of the season last year.

    Thats exactly why im thinking we will see more of Danny and Skittles together keep Carra fresh for the games where raw passion is needed ie Scum and Bluenoses

    Im sure Dagger was told this when trying to get him to sign his new contract .
    Would be very surprised if if rafa goes straight in to only using Carra for derbys or the mancs only but Dan will deffo get more game time this season than last.
    Add Pepe and glen johnson to that and we really are strong at the back .

    Good defence is all about consistency in the centre- which ever 2 get the nod will keep their positions as long as they play well, and there will be times when all 3 will play against weaker teams. Personally i think Carra still will be a first name on the team sheet even though I agree he looked tired in the second half of last season.

    I think playing the three lads at the back from the start could take its toll come the end of the season.I'd rather see him rotate the 3 of them and try and keep them all fresh.

    Its gonna happen sometime, and we best be prepared for it.

    Dagger wil be an exceptional player for us when he does step into the fold, he's already showed what he can do, he just needs the consistency with a run of games.
    Him & Skittles will be rock solid!!!

    I've been thinking the same TBH. Think it's time for Carra to play less games over the course of the season for us.

    If we're a'll really honest, Jamie lad had a shit season last year and if it wasn't the fact he's a scouser he would have been dropped . I love the guy, but his perforfances last term were not good enough for LFC. Skittles and Dagger are the way forward for us at centre halves, Carra at full back won't work either, he's too slow. I am one nof Jamie's biggest fans, the guy bleeds Liverpool, but if we're to really contest the league, there is no room for sentiment

    I don't think he had a sh*t season last year just a few tired performances coming in at the tail end of the season but I wouldn't brand his whole season a sh*t one. I still fully believe that he can do a job even in the biggest games and he will get the majority of games this season and too right imo, players seem to play better with him next to them. Look at sami, last second was put in the starting 11 at ot and gave as good a performance I've seen from him in his 10 years at the club. Jamie is not past it, ok he might not get as many performances as previous seasons but when it comes down to the big games (mancs, bitters, gunners, chelski) he'd be the first name down for the center back role.

    Interesting to read how he's been going down to the academy more and more and getting involved and getting experience in a coaching role.
