signed a 3 year contract today, anybody ever see him play? know anything about him?

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of French defender Chris Mavinga from Paris Saint Germain.

Reports in France earlier this week claimed Liverpool had offered Mavinga a three-year deal at Anfield and the 18-year-old has now put pen-to-paper on the contract.

Arsenal were believed to be interested in signing the versatile defender, but Liverpool have won the race to bring Mavinga to England.

Mavinga follows in the footsteps of David Ngog in leaving Paris for Liverpool following the striker's switch last summer.

The young Frenchman is Liverpool's second signing of the summer following Glen Johnson's arrival from Portsmouth

Also lets not forget about Aaron King:D

Anyone any idea how much we've paid paris in compensation? I doubt it could have been too much tho. I heard arsenal were also interested in him so he might have had a few other clubs sniffing around too and chose to come to Liverpool.

Doesn't sound good, makes it easier to see why Pacheco is getting blanked for some English players in the match day squad.

Might explain Eccesstone getting runs instead of Pacheco.

To be honest would have no problem wit Roy trying to get a bit more of local heartbeat to the team.

Spearing is not good enough and should be shipped out, Ecclestone isn't too far behind him unless he can prove otherwise.

All well and good having "English" players but if they aren't good enough no point in setting the club back 5-10 years by being ignorant to foreign players.

2 of our best 3 players are foreign.

Really? I couldn't care less about the nationality of the team once they're good enough, I'd also hate to shun top foreign talent for the sake of have a local team.

I agree, those who are the best should get the chance, however if it's 50/50 I would rather see the local lad get the chance. I don't want to see mediocre players coming into the team, I do though hope Comoli takes the route of looking to home nations first rather then flooding the youth and reserves with sub standard foreign 'talent' Barely one young foreign player brought in Houllier or Rafa became a first team regular. Insua maybe but he was not good enough. The influx probably stopped some decent lads getting through. Whether that's down to Houllier/Rafa or their scouts is another matter.

Theres a real chance that some of our young foreign stars ability may never have been realised, hopefully Kenny will give them a fair oppurtunity.

Agreement between Genk and Liverpool for a permanent move of Mavinga. Personal terms discussed after return from France U21.

Thought he looked decent anytime I seen him , but the likes of Flanagan and Robinson are better prospects imo

Only seen him a handful of times colm.Seen him against that Belgian Kid Lukukla(Bad spelling) and he played well against him.Cant give you much more than that.Only that he said a couple of days ago, that he wanted to stay in Liverpool and he was looking forward to getting back.

I never understand why we sign so many young Kids who never seem to make it.
