    Need abit of advice here..

Got a long drive ahead of me next week, going from Wexford to Derry and im going to need to listen to some thing..no i just have a normal cd player in the car, one that came with it..nothing fancy...so last year or the year before i bought a fm transmitter to listen to the mp3 player..the first one i got was from china and it was rubbish...there was this real crackling nose coming from it..

so they went on sale over here shortly and i bought a belkin one...sound wasnt great on that one either...the little brother bought one for his car the other day, 40 or 50 notes i think he said he paid,a logic 3 one or something like that..tried it in my car and its perfect...

now i only want it for the journey really, was wondering does any one have any advice on these little things, where to buy them, which ones to avoid etc please..

50euros will get you a long way towards a stereo with a dedicated aux in (headphone type jack) which. Sound would be much better than through any fm transmitter.

80euro would get you this JVC one in Argos. If you need a fascia adapter or iso wiring adapter that will bump up the price another bit though. You might not need them depending on model of car you have.

I'm with Walt here, money far bettter spent imho...

As an aside, I've a belkin in my Mrs2b's car and it works fine, once you set it to the right frequency, think there's four options if memory serves me correctly and I've it at the highest in the range (think it's 107.8fm or something) and is working perfectly, except when very close to the airport (must be a clash in frequencies out there or somthing).

Whatis the year and make/model of car?

I'm not a big fan of Argos but they have occasional good deals on this kind of stuff in their sale fliers. I purchased a Pioneer head unit with aux in and USB in for 111euro earlier this year. They had it temporarily reduced to 91 recently. USB is excellent as you can put a lot of albums on say a 4gb memory stick and scroll through them by artist etc.

Yes - the higher FM frequencies clash with Air Traffic control. Your lower options in the Belkin are likely to be clashing with local radio stations.
