Called Setanta to cancel my subscription over the weekend and the girl on the customer care helpdesk told me that Setanta have only lost English Permier Leauge rights for the UK and will continue to show EPL game on Setanta Ireland.

I told her I thought they lost it full stop and not just in the UK? I asked her twice was she sure about that and she said, yes she was.

I know she has confirmed it but Im still a bit suspect about it, for the sake of a fiver I said I'd keep it and wait to see what happens new season.

She is right its a different package, and apparently Setanta Ireland are on much firmer financial footing.

BSKYB has threatened the administrator of Setanta Sports that it will remove the Irish broadcaster from its platform unless it repays €5.5m by noon tomorrow (Monday), The Sunday Times reports. It is believed the Irish platform constitutes between €300,000 and €500,000 of this figure.

Deloitte, Setanta's administrator, told Sky recently it would no longer pay for Setanta to be carried on the Sky platform in the UK and Ireland.

Talks between Deloitte and Sky about paying off the Irish component of the debt in instalments are continuing. It is believed a group including music promoter Denis Desmond, who owns 20% of Setanta's Irish business, is finalising a takeover of it.

Desmond told the newspaper he was only interested in the Irish component and had “no problem looking after Ireland but they want us to pay for the UK, and we are saying 'you've got to be kidding'.”

Staff were told on Friday that Setanta's founders Leonard Ryan and Michael O'Rourke had done a deal to take over the company's international assets.

 So would the games be shown on Setanta Ireland then? And given that channel is "free" (i.e. as part of a channel package, not an altogether separate sports package) would they start charging a subscription? Or is just the games they had already lined up for that channel that they are showing (not inclusive of those that would have been on Setanta Sports 1 etc)?

Just what is the story here? Will they have any Premier League games in Ireland next year? They claimed on the phone to me that they would when I tried to cancel. They offered me 4 months for €5 so i took that, as we still have Racing UK

how much will it go back up to after the 4 months? 16.50 or 22 euro...

im currently paying 16.50, but i dont think i should be paying that much as ive lost setanta golf, and setanta sport news and setanta sports 2.

How much is it normally, i cancelled it after our last game on Setanta,

surely they won't be charging €21.95 next season and only have 1 game on a week...

Doubt i'll be ordering that and keeping sky and ESPN, you'd have a season ticket paid for at the end of the year..

The 5 euro a month deal is what they offer to keep you as a subscriber. I suppose the way they loook at it, a fiver a month from 5000 punters is better than no euros.
