Mark Walters, Phil Babb, Ian Rush, Dominic Matteo, Patrick Berger and Vladimir Smicer all picked up injuries prior to the event, despite signalling their intention to play for Liverpool Masters. I'd have liked to see Berger and Smicer playing for the Liverpool masters team but maybe next year. I always enjoy the masters football, it seems to get a little more competitive every year.
